Move over Nostradamus

by Ethan Demme on January 3, 2008

and make way for Pat Robertson and his “God talked to me” predictions.

Pat predicts for 2008…

It will be a year of violence worldwide and a recession in the United States, followed by a major stock-market crash by 2010 [...] and there will be more angel sightings.

but what if he is wrong? Don’t worry he already knows how to get out of a failed prediction, in 2007 he “predicted”

A terrorist act, possibly involving a nuclear weapon, would result in mass killing in the United States.

It didn’t happen, so he chalked it up to people praying and God being merciful.

Predicting seems to be the thing to do so here are my short term predictions for Iowa tonight…
1. Huckabee will win in a close caucus
2. Mitt Romney take second
3. Non Huck and Romney fans will stay home and watch the orange bowl
4. Ron Paul and his people will all turn out and caucus but later will cry foul play and holler about not being allowed to vote. But in spite of it all Paul will finish third.

Update:

I was correct about Huck and Romney but wrong about Paul. I guess I bought into his overhyped internet presence and though it would equal real people, I guess not :-)

Yikes…do you remember his comments on communist China? He said (OK, I’m paraphrasing) that they had no choice but to force abortions on women, because China is in fact overpopulated. Whoa
